Where does the word 'Coney' come from?  (choose the one best answer)

A.    Derives from the Middle English word cony, a rabbit (via Latin, Lepus Cuniculus).
B.    Named after Guglielmo Marconi, who invested his radio fortune in the real estate.
C.    Commemorates the world's first Sno-Cone, which debuted here on July 4th 1920.
D.    Local slang for a popular sideshow shell-game, played with a pea and three cones.

Googling "Coney Island" returns dozens of hot dog restaurants, none of them belonging to Nathan's whose annual speed eating contest has arguably done more to connect the two.

In the 1860's a play-land-at-the-beach was envisioned by local developers to cool sweltering New Yorkers, and a rail line was constructed to take them there.

But first they had to get rid of all the rabbits, because the place has been hopping with them since long before Dutch sailors named it Conney Isle on maps dating back to 1690 -- so A is correct.
